Britney Supporters Chant as Court Grants Her Power to Choose Her Own Lawyer

Supporters of pop singer Britney Spears gathered outside the Stanley Mosk Courthouse in Los Angeles, California, on Wednesday, July 14, to rally against her conservatorship ahead of a hearing scheduled on the same day.

Spears was granted the right to hire her own lawyer during Wednesday’s pre-scheduled court hearing, local media reported.

In 2008, Britney’s father, Jamie P Spears, was granted control over his daughter’s personal and financial affairs in a court-ordered conservatorship.

Britney Spears appealed for an end to the conservatorship on June 23, addressing a Los Angeles judge during the case’s first hearing.
