Planning a special event? There is a new event venue in town.

Broadberry Events, located in the Broad Avenue Arts District at 2531 Broad Ave., caters to parties of fewer than 100 guests.

The elegant space has a chic, upscale modern décor. Large mirrors, stunning statement light fixtures and an eye-catching herringbone floor make it a unique and intimate event space.

Bob Berry and Lucy Woodson, who are co-owners of Memphis-based furniture and home décor company World's Away, bought the 5,500-square-foot building in early 2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown.

Berry said they considered many uses for the building, including a restaurant, but in the end, they felt strongly that they did not want to change the design of the space that had most recently been 20twelve clothing boutique.

"We think the space is beautiful as it is," Berry said. "We didn't want to make any changes to it, especially since it works so well for events."

Alisa Cunningham is the event coordinator for the boutique event venue.

"Broadberry Events is a smaller space that can cater to those that want a more intimate event," Cunningham said. "The venue is perfect for rehearsal dinners, birthday parties and corporate events."

The venue is divided into two rooms, each opens into the other. The former cash register stand for 20twelve has been converted into a bar.

A unique offering is that the rental fee includes use of the venue's tables and white Chiavari chairs.

Cunningham is available to help with event planning needs, including offering  suggestions and recommendations for catering services, floral arrangements, linen choices, and any other items needed while hosting a special occasion at Broadberry Events.

At an open house for the venue on June 14, Paradox Cuisine and Greys Fine Cheese and Entertaining provided the food. Everbloom Design, which is also located on Broad Avenue, provided the floral arrangements.

"We wanted to highlight some of our favorite caterers, plus our neighbors here on Broad," Berry said.
