Hit broadway musical Hamilton to extend Singapore season for two additional weeks until 9 June

No further extensions possible for critically-acclaimed musical, which has garnered 11 Tony Awards and 7 Olivier Awards

SINGAPORE — Critically-acclaimed Broadway musical "Hamilton" will extend its Singapore season - set to begin on 19 April - for two additional weeks until 9 June, due to strong demand.

In a media release on Friday (26 January), Base Entertainment Asia added that no further extensions will be possible. The Singapore shows are scheduled at 8pm from Tuesdays to Fridays, 2pm and 8pm on Saturdays, and 1pm and 6.30pm on Sundays.

The Singapore run of the musical was first announced last October and ticket sales started in November. Tickets will remain on sale till 9 June, and are available through Marina Bay Sands's ticketing website and SISTIC.

About the musical

"Hamilton" premiered on Broadway in August 2015 to wide critical and audience acclaim. The musical has received 11 Tony Awards, seven Olivier Awards, the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the 2016 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theatre Album.

The show follows the story of American founding father, Alexander Hamilton, and is based on Ron Chernow’s acclaimed biography released in 2004. It features a score blending hip-hop, jazz, R&B, and Broadway music genres.

The book, music and lyrics are written by American composer-playwright-actor Lin-Manuel Miranda. The musical is directed by Thomas Kail, choreographed by Andy Blankenbuehler, with musical supervision and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire.

The cast for the Singapore season is led by Jason Arrow as Alexander Hamilton, Rachelle Ann Go as Eliza Hamilton and DeAundre’ Woods as Aaron Burr, under the direction of Chantal Prudhomme.
