Broadway in Norfolk’s 2023-24 season includes a jazzy trip to the underworld, a mixed-up teenager repeating a dead guy’s name one too many times and a modern spin on an old story of love and betrayal.

The lineup, released Tuesday, features four musicals, including the multi-award-winning “Hadestown,” an adaptation of the Tim Burton film “Beetlejuice” and the play “To Kill a Mockingbird,” based on Harper Lee’s beloved novel.

Season ticket packages that start at $259 are on sale at BroadwayinNorfolk.com. Sale dates for individual tickets will be announced closer to the performances. Each of the five shows will be performed in Chrysler Hall at 215 St. Paul’s Blvd., Norfolk.

“Aladdin”

The musical is based on the Disney animated movie in which an impoverished lad finds a magical lamp containing a genie who is willing to grant him three wishes for anything — except, of course, more wishes. From the producer of Broadway’s “The Lion King,” the new production is filled with comedy and magic. Seven performances, Oct. 25-29.

“Beetlejuice”

Based on the 1988 Burton film, this musical delves into the life of oddball teen Lydia Deetz, who meets a recently deceased couple and an unruly demon willing to help them haunt a house — antics ensue. Eight performances, Dec. 12-17.

“To Kill a Mockingbird”

Aaron Sorkin’s adaptation of Lee’s “To Kill a Mockingbird” is a coming-of-age story featuring one of the most recognizable American protagonists ever written, Atticus Finch. Finch is a lawyer who defends a Black man accused of raping a white woman in the segregated Deep South. Eight performances, Jan. 30-Feb. 4, 2024.

“Six”

The original musical puts a twist on the retelling of King Henry VIII’s reign over England by handing narrative control over to the monarch’s six wives. Instead of a straightforward and morbid account of the women’s plights, this production celebrates female empowerment. Eight performances, Feb. 27-March 3, 2024.

“Hadestown”

Some love stories are worth a trip to hell and back. This musical interweaves Greek mythology featuring gods King Hades and Persephone and the young lovers Orpheus and Eurydice. The show won eight 2019 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and in 2020, took home a Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album. Eight performances, March 26-31, 2024.
