Broadway stars Lucia Spina and Nathaniel Stampley to lead Marriott Theatre’s ‘Gypsy’

Two Broadway stars are slated to lead Marriott Theatre’s production of Arthur Laurents’ musical “Gypsy,” which tells the story of an ambitious stage mother and her two daughters.

Lucia Spina, whose Broadway credits include “Into the Woods,” “South Pacific” and “Les Misérables,” will play Rose, the overbearing stage mom who dreams of her daughter June’s success. When June elopes, Rose switches focus to Louise, her older daughter.

Nathaniel Stampley, whose Broadway credits include “Cats,” “The Color Purple” and “The Lion King,” will play Herbie, Rose’s suitor. The cast also includes Lauren Maria Medina as Louise and Tori Heinlein as June.

The show features a score by Jule Styne and Stephen Sondheim with songs including “Everything’s Coming Up Roses,” “Let Me Entertain You,” “Some People” and “Together Wherever We Go.” The Marriott production is directed by Amanda Dehnert with choreography by Stephanie Klemons and musical direction by Ryan T. Nelson.
