Broadway's Rock of Ages Band, Porta Potty Races among week's can't-miss events in Manitowoc: 5 things to do

MANITOWOC - Here's your look at five can't-miss events in Manitowoc this week.

1. Don’t miss Broadway’s Rock of Ages

Capitol Civic Centre, 913 S. Eighth St., is hosting Broadway’s Rock of Ages Band at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 24.

Named “Broadway’s Best Party,” electrifying rock stars from the original "Rock of Ages" cast will be playing the best rock hits from the 1980s, including Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, Journey, Poison and many more.

Tickets are on sale at cccshows.org or call 920-683-2184.

2. Meet piglets at Farm Wisconsin

Some of the most precious animals on the farm are piglets, and Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center, 7001 Gass Lake Road, is giving families the chance to learn all about two different breeds — duroc and crossbred — and meet the piglets from Peter Family Show Pigs.

The piglets will be at Farm Wisconsin from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Feb. 25. Learn more and purchase admission tickets at https://farmwisconsin.org/.

3. Check out Porta Potty Races

Lakeshore Foster Families and Friends is hosting a one-of-a-kind fundraising event this weekend that the whole family will enjoy — their annual Porta Potty Races!

Participants will be racing their loos — their own homemade structures built atop skis — 30 yards in a true feat of athleticism and balance.

Head to The Smiling Moose Saloon, 10731 State 42, Newton, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 25 to watch the races and enjoy a day of food, drinks, raffles and all-around family fun.

4. Take the kids to see 'Winnie the Pooh' at Treehouse Theatre

Treehouse Theatre, 910 Washington St., is presenting four performances of "Winnie the Pooh Kids," a family-friendly play about the lovable bear on his search for some honey.

The performances are at 2:30 and 5 p.m. Feb. 25 and 26. Tickets to see Christopher Robin and all the animals in the Hundred Acre Woods are $6.

More about the performances can be found at https://www.treehousetheater.com/.

5. Try a tiny canvas paint night

A big, empty canvas can be very daunting, so try a small, empty canvas!

Glaze & Paint, 909 Washington St., is hosting a tiny canvas painting class at 6 p.m. Feb. 24. There will be three mini canvases for each person to paint a beach, a night sky and a dandelion in step-by-step painting.

Learn more by visiting Glaze & Paint’s Facebook event at https://fb.me/e/4aLNLBpUm and reserve a seat by private messaging their page or calling 920-242-1917.
