BROCKTON − A shooting on James Street on Nov. 6 is being investigated as a homicide — the third in Brockton in five days. Brockton Police also investiged a "shots fired" report on Otis Street Monday morning that left a nearby middle school, Joseph Plouffe Academy, and the Adult Learning Center on a 'stay-in-place' order for 30 minutes.

Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School cheerleaders won the Division 1 Southeast Conference League & Trojan Invitational Fall 2022 tournament.

A 21-year-old man died and another person was injured as a result of a rollover crash that occurred in a plaza parking lot behind Barton's Home Outlet in Brockton, officials said.

The 27th annual Rocky Marciano Tournament of Champions was held at the Bridgewater VFW. The event was organized by Richard Cappiello, Marilyn Jean Cappiello, Michael Cappiello and Michael Cappiello Jr.

A 21-year-old man is dead and another person injured as a result of a rollover crash in Brockton, officials said. The crash occurred about 5 p.m. in the area of 580 Centre St., according to written statements from the Plymouth County district attorney’s office and the Brockton Police Department. The crashed happened in a plaza parking lot behind Barton’s Home Outlet.

3rd homicide in Brockton in 5 days; 'shots fired' on Otis Street

A shooting on James Street early morning on Nov. 6 is being investigated as a homicide — the third in Brockton in five days. Police responded to James Street after "receiving a gunfire alert from ShotSpotter, the city's electronic gun detection system, at around 12:29 a.m. on Sunday," a written statement from the police said. Brockton and state police detectives are currently investigating the case as a homicide, police said.

Taunton crowns Miss Taunton 2023

Lakeville resident Lily Jeswald was crowned Miss Taunton 2023 at Taunton High School at the 68th anniversary of the Miss Taunton Scholarship Program. Miss Taunton 2022 Brooklyn Toli did the honors, crowning Jeswald at the ceremony on Nov. 5, 2022, at Taunton High School. Jeswald, 23, a graduate of Dean College with a major in theater and English, was the recipient of a $3,500 scholarship and the Miss Congeniality Award. A vocalist, Jeswald will compete for the title of Miss Massachusetts in June 2023.

Rita Mendes clenches victory in new majority-minority Brockton state rep district

Rita Mendes came to Massachusetts from Brazil when she was 12. Come January, she'll be State Representative Rita Mendes. The Brockton Democrat had no challengers on the ballot as she took the seat vacated by Claire Cronin when President Joe Biden named Cronin ambassador to Ireland. Brockton businessman Fred Fontaine ran an unsuccessful write-in campaign as an independent after flubbing an election deadline. Unofficial results showed Mendes taking 80% of the vote.
