BROCKTON — A jury took three hours to convict Kian Willis of murdering Patrick Sequeira-Ferreira with two gunshots to the face. "Ladies and gentlemen, that was an execution,” Assistant District Attorney Shanan Buckingham told jurors in her closing argument on Thursday.

East Bridgewater labradoodle, provides therapy to first responders

Meet Sparkie – a 2-year-old labradoodle and certified first responder therapy dog. "She helps first responders by boosting morale, offering emotional support, helping with trauma," Tracy Ryan, Sparkie's mom and an East Bridgewater resident, said. Last August, Sparkie joined a cohort of 40 teams in nine states across the nation who are a part of First Responder Therapy Dogs (FRTD), a nonprofit based in California, helping first responders with their emotional and mental well-being.

Raynham Park breaks ground on simulcasting sports betting facility

Raynham Park co-owner Chris Carney said excavation for a simulcasting sports betting facility is underway at the former dog track as state lawmakers finalize a bill to legalize sports betting. “We're trying to get ahead of the curve," he said. "The facility will be just under 60,000 square feet." Carney's hope for legal sports betting was boosted on April 28 when the State Senate voted to legalize sports wagering.
