What Brockton restaurants made Yelp's top 10 list of best places to eat

BROCKTON – Searching for a new place to eat, a good meal, or a fan favorite? Yelp, a popular online food review website, can help make your choice easier.

The website has compiled a list of what they rate are the 10 best restaurants for food lovers in the Brockton area. The cuisine is varied with everything from Cajun seafood boils and sushi to authentic Vietnamese Pho and Cape Verdean food to barbecue.

10. Southern Comfort

Taking the number 10 spot is Southern Comfort Bar and Grill, a homestyle barbecue restaurant that's igniting its grills and serving up hickory-smoked chicken, slowly marinated ribs, and crunchy homestyle Georgia peach cobbler egg rolls.

The Southern Comfort Bar and Grill, located at 320 West Center St. in West Bridgewater, is taking down-south cooking and bringing it up north through generations of family recipes.

The menu is comprised of southern catfish and blackened salmon to shrimp po boys, seafood tacos, and bubbling mac and cheese sprinkled with scallions.

Note: according to the restaurant website, it is closed until further notice due to extensive water damage on Feb. 2, 2023. Check the website for updates on its reopening.

9. Boiling Catch

Boiling Catch can be found in the former Papa Gino's at 675 Crescent St. Boiling Catch is making its rounds serving hot Cajun-style seafood, including your favorite combo bag of snow crab legs and crawfish. The restaurant allows you to pick the level of spiciness in each bag. Deep-fried food is also an option if a seafood boil isn't your vibe.

Looking to try something different? Succulent sides are available, including garlic noodles, clam chowder, hush puppies, and Cajun rice.

8. Pho Town 6

Right off the Brockton exit, Pho Town 6, located at 27 Westgate Drive, serves warm pho, deep-fried orange chicken, fried rice, and house-made eggrolls. If you're a seafood lover, the owner suggests trying the seafood pho, which includes shrimp, fried fish sausage, crabmeat, squid, and noodle soup served with chicken or beef broth.

7. Ya's Sushi and Ramen 

Located on the border of Brockton at 800 Brockton Ave, suite 5, Abington is a new sushi spot, Ya's Sushi and Ramen. 

The restaurant offers a unique experience from its traditional Japanese ramen and sushi. In addition, they take pride in using the freshest and most natural ingredients to service the area.

Some of the menu items include shrimp tempura roll, miso soup, pork gyoza, Takoyaki, salmon bites, scallion pancakes, and seaweed salad.

6. Casa Vallarta 

Tacos, churros, and margaritas are great ways to end your day. Casa Vallarta, located at 610 Oat St., Brockton, serves its version of authentic Mexican cuisine.

Yelp reviewers say the restaurant has "big portions" and "fast service" when it comes to delivering food to hungry customers.

Popular plates include tacos al carbon, tijuana fish tacos, fajitas, pork carnitas tacos, and carne asada. Most entrees come with a side of beans and green mixed vegetable rice.

The restaurant has an extensive cocktail selection from margaritas, mojitos, and mocktails.

5. The Farmer's Daughter

Taking spot number 5 is a farm-to-table restaurant in Easton. The Farmer's Daughter can be found in Easton at 122 Main St., serving poached lobster benedict, deep-fried chicken and waffles, Brioche French toast, and an average homestyle breakfast of eggs, bacon toast, and home fries.

With over 925 reviews and a 4-star rating, the restaurant is a popular staple in Easton, and many Brockton natives enjoy the place, according to the reviews.

One user said the food was delicious in all caps, and they meant business.

The Farmers Daughter has an extensive boozy brunch menu, including mimosas with freshly squeezed fruit juices, warm French toast martini, spiked mocha lattes, and green tea sangria.

4. Birdies Hot Chicken

Chow says that her meals can be prepared at several levels of spiciness, which the customer can choose. Birdies has been open for only about a month, but has already become a hot spot for Brockton-area residents. Chow says she got the idea for this style of meal when she visited Nashville, Tennessee, and thought the approach might catch on up north.

Deep-fried chicken smothered in a unique sweet and savory sauce, served with stovetop macaroni, cheese, and coleslaw, is taking over Brockton.

Birdies Hot Chicken, at 1285 Belmont St., is giving Brockton a new taste of Nashville, Tennessee-inspired hot chicken.

The menu consists of five combos to choose from and a healthier option of a chicken tender salad. The sides include macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, and fries.

Is spice something you love? The restaurant offers different spice levels, from mild to the grim reaper, which requires a signed waiver.

Each chicken is hand battered and deep fried with their homemade seasoning. Nothing in the restaurant is frozen; fresh chicken constantly hits the grease.

3. Brack's Grille & Tap

Are you looking for a lax place to enjoy a craft burger and cold beer?

Then Brack's Grille and Tap is the place to be. The restaurant, taking the third spot on the list, serves American comfort food with international cuisines, such as chicken Mozambique, Sicilian cod, Portuguese steak, and Creole shrimp.

Other dishes include honey mustard wrap, deep-fried calamari, mega stuffed meatball, spicy tacos, and more.

Sodade Restaurant, a cozy Cape Verdean restaurant at 1145 Main St., tucked away behind Sodade's Barbershop on Brockton's South Side, offers a taste of Mediterranean and Cape Verdean flavors. Customers can enjoy steak cooked before their eyes on a hot skillet by the table entertainment. The restaurant has options from grilled octopus served with fries and rice and beans to Codfish, and shrimp sautéed in coconut milk, served with rice and roasted plantains. Of course, seafood isn't the only popular item on the menu, but we can add pan-seared steak prepared in a garlic lemon bath, served with eggs, fries, rice, or a side of veggies to that list.

1. The Cajun Kitchen

Taking the number one spot is The Cajun Kitchen, located at 708 Belmont St., right in in front of Brockton High School.

The restaurant has 17 reviews with happy customers enjoying garlic butter noodles, fresh crawfish, steamed mussels, fried chicken, oysters, lobster grilled cheese, po boy sandwich, fried rice, and fried seafood options including calamari, clam strips, lobster tails, catfish, and oysters.

"I'm a foodie. I love to try different food places, and southern food, along with crab boil, is one of my favorites. This place is recently new, so I had to try it out, and I was actually surprisingly amazed. They had some New Orleans dishes. I tried their jambalaya, and I have to say it was really good and spicy," Josh H., a Yelp reviewer, said.
