Bronson schools construction project not likely to conclude by Aug. 22

Bronson Community Schools is using sinking fund money to improve security at Bronson Jr/Sr. High School.

The plan was to rearrange main entrance of the nearly 60-year-old building to make it safer for students and staff.

The project also includes reconfiguring offices, rebuilding bathrooms and creating a safer egress for the sixth-grade wing.

The current concern for administrators is, will the building project be completed before schools starts Aug. 22?

Probably not, at least not all of it.

It’s safe to say the office area will not be finished by that date, said Steve Wilson, Bronson superintendent.

Hopefully, at least one set of the two bathroom projects will be done within the next three weeks.

Although it’s moving slower than hoped, Wilson said he truly appreciates  Brussee/Brady and its crew.

“These guys are great,” Wilson said. “They just a good group of friendly, hard-working people. They put in a lot of hours.”

Wilson said he went to the site on a recent weekend and one of the leaders was “just covered in dust,” trying to complete a job.

“They are working hard to get it done,” Wilson said.

The entrance to Bronson Jr./Sr. High isn't recognizable yet, but the project is moving forward.
