BRONSON, MI. — Bronson senior scoring machine Haylie Wilson recently broke a mark only a handful of athletes in the high school ranks ever reach, scoring her 1000th career point in what has been a prolific career.

Our deepest apologies go out to Haylie, her family, friends, and fans of the Bronson Vikings on not reporting on this tremendous accomplishment when it happened in a Viking win over Homer back on Jan. 13. The news of her 1000th career point was only reported to us here at The Daily Reporter today and it is with great regret that the recognition Haylie Wilson deserves was delayed for so long.

Wilson has been a true scoring power since she transferred to Bronson High School for her sophomore season and has since scored 819 points while wearing the purple and gold. Her numbers during her freshman season at Constantine helped her surpass the 1000 career point mark on Jan. 13 in a 64-51 win over the Homer Trojans.

In that game Wilson poured in 20 points while also adding four rebounds, two assists and three steals. On the season Wilson is averaging over 22 points a contest and is slowly closing in on her 1000th career point just as a Viking, a number she should reach before districts.

Congratulations goes out to Haylie Wilson for this tremendous accomplishment. The mark of 1000 career points is truly a rare feat, as only the very best ever reach that mark. For Wilson the season is far from over as her and her Viking teammates close in on a Big 8 conference championship, along with having their sights set on yet another MHSAA District title.

Once again, we here at The Daily Reporter truly regret not reporting on this amazing moment in a timely manner.
