A 67-year-old man was found dead in a pool of blood in his Bronx apartment, in what authorities are now deeming a homicide, police said Thursday.

Benson Petson was found dead about 8:40 a.m. Nov. 2 in his basement apartment on E. 235th St. near Byron Ave. in Wakefield by his building’s super, cops said. It wasn’t immediately clear how he died.

The city Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy and determined Petson had been stabbed numerous times in the neck and was also stabbed in the chin, police said Thursday.

There have been no arrests.

A neighbor, Ruben Macay, 79, said Petson appeared to have no relatives. He’d ride his bike during the day but was more often seen outside at night.

“A week before he died I saw him cleaning the front so I gave him 20$ and he was so happy," Macaya said. “One of the neighbors called me and said he had died.... If it happens next to you, it’s scary. I put locks in my gates.”
