Bronx woman arrested for attempted arson at New Rochelle bar

A Bronx woman was arrested Tuesday morning after she was accused of attempted arson at a New Rochelle bar.

New Rochelle police said Freissy Batista-Pereya, 32, got into a fight with staff at the Drake Main Cafe in New Rochelle earlier in the evening on Monday, Dec. 11 and left the bar.

When she returned around 12:47 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, police said she poured a can of gas on the walls and entryway of the bar and lit them on fire, before fleeing.

Police said the bar owner quickly extinguished the fire and no one was injured. Batista-Pereya was found getting into an Uber when she was arrested.

Batista-Pereya is charged with second-degree arson, reckless endangerment and criminal mischief.
