Brookline Public Schools Begin Voluntary At-Home Testing Program
BROOKLINE, MA — The Public Schools of Brookline is starting a voluntary, at-home COVID-19 testing program and will provide students and staff with test kits.
All students and staff are eligible to participate regardless of vaccination status. As part of this shift in the program, the district will discontinue Test and Stay and contact tracing for all in-school close contacts.
Families who would like to participate must fill out this online form by Thursday, Jan. 27 at 3 p.m. so that kits can be ordered from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in a timely manner.
The at-home testing option for students will begin once the district receive the test kits. The anticipated date is currently around Feb. 7 to 11.
All students who participate in the program will be sent home with one kit containing two tests every Monday and will be expected to test at home every Tuesday evening. Information on the test kits being used in this program can be found here.
Anyone who tests positive from a Tuesday test must report it to the school nurse here by Wednesday morning and stay home. Negative results do not need to be reported.
In addition to this new at-home antigen test option, the district will continue with symptomatic testing of individuals who become symptomatic while at school. Consent forms for rapid antigen tests are available here.
