As the son of David and Victoria Beckham, Brooklyn Beckham has faced a lot of criticism as he has tried to make a name for himself in his own right in the showbiz world. But now, UberEats have named him "one of the world's most talked about foodies" as they announced a new cooking partnership with the star.

In the normal world, people do try out different jobs until they find their feet but the famous offspring has faced a lot of backlash for his career attempts. Beckham has tried out a number of different jobs - from his first position as a teenage barista to going to photography school and being a professional photographer to also becoming a footballer and a model.

In more recent years, the 24-year-old has set his sights on being a chef. Beckham was mocked for cooking a breakfast sandwich on TV, however he has continued to pursue this dream. Not losing heart, the rising star has launched a pop up restaurant where people can order his sandwiches.

Of his changing careers, Beckham previously told The Evening Standard: "I started doing football and I love that, then went into photography, which I am still in love with and now I do cooking. I've always been into trying new food, even if it is sometimes a bit not that great. I remember trying jellied eels because I’ve always liked pie and mash — and I did not like them at all."

In June 2022, his now wife Nicola Peltz told Tatler that her husband felt "a lot of pressure to please people with his career and he didn’t love it". Beckham really rediscovered his love of cooking in lockdown and with the encouragement of his wife, he set his sights on the food world.

A few years on, Beckham is still carving his place in the food world. As a passionate foodie, the former footballer's son loves to share his cooking on his Instagram. Now Beckham has partnered with UberEats for a two-night delivery on 25 and 26 January between 5-10pm. There are five dishes on offer with a starting price of £10, including: English Breakfast Sandwich, Chicken Tikka Masala and Wagyu Bolognese.

He said in a statement: "My Nanny Peggy taught me how to make her English Breakfast sandwich when I was 5, and it’s been my favourite ever since. I’ve always been into trying different foods, cuisines, and cultures, but that was one of my earliest memories of loving cooking.

"Spending time in the kitchen is definitely something me and my dad bond over… Even though I think I make my English Breakfast sandwich better, he does make a pretty good one!"

Matthew Price, General Manager UK, Ireland and Northern Europe at Uber Eats hailed Beckham as "one of the world's most talked about foodies". They added: "Uber Eats hosts is all about creating unique food experiences on the Uber Eats app. We’re excited to be working with one of the world’s most talked about foodies adding to the wide breadth of culinary talent already available on Uber Eats."

Previously, Beckham had teamed up with Facebook for an eight-part series Cookin’ With Brooklyn.

Gordon Ramsay's opinion

Last year, TV chef and family friend Gordon Ramsay defended Beckham's choice of career as a chef. Notoriously hard to please in the kitchen, the famous foodie shared some kind words as he said he was "pleased" that Beckham had found something he loved doing.

He told Daily Mail: "But even as a 12-year-old, whilst playing football, Brooklyn was always excited about food. So I'm pleased that he's gone down that road and he's found something he really enjoys doing." He added: "It's hard, isn't it? Because he didn't ask for that level of intrusion from having famous parents. It probably came off a certain way, but it's not his fault. So I have no issues against it."

In 2021, Beckham was invited to appear on the TODAY show in the US where he shared his great grandma's recipe for making an English breakfast sandwich. During the show, he told Hoda Kobt and Carson Daly of his love for cooking. He said: "I've always loved food and obviously when quarantine hit I just really started to get into it. My fiancee started filming me and I started posting it and it's just something I love doing."

At the time, his TV appearance sparked a huge reaction on social media as people questioned why Beckham had cooked a sandwich. Among the comments, people wrote: "Brooklyn Beckham went on tv to show his culinary skills and cooked……a breakfast sandwich I am done!" Others added: "Actual chefs: train for years to perfect flavour and skill. Brooklyn: son of famous people who whacks s*** in bread." And: "Like a lot of celeb kids they've got no direction in life, they've never been without or wanted for anything, lame, if celebrity kids really wanted to impress they'd get a real 9-5 job and see what life's really like."

Before cooking, Beckham had set his heart on the world of photography. It was his mum Victoria Beckham who encouraged him to try out photograph. In 2017, he told Entertainment Tonight: "My mum was like, 'Do it. If you don't like it, you can [switch]’. So I did it, and then my dad bought me my first camera when I was 15, a Pentax K1000... I just started carrying it everywhere with me, posting on my Instagram. I really enjoyed it and I found out I was pretty good at it. So I just stuck with it."

The star even released his own of photographs What I See at the age of 18. His book drew mixed reviews from critics at the time of its release. Beckham went onto secure a place on the four-year course at world-renowned Parsons School of Design but he quit after a year, with reports saying he was homesick and missing the UK.

Model

Modelling was another career avenue that Beckham considered. In 2021, Beckham was unveiled as the face of Superdry and at the time The Sun reported the deal was worth £1m. However, his modelling deal with the highstreet fashion brand lasted less than a year.

In July 2022, Superdry announced they were no longer working with Beckham. The statement said: "Superdry works with a range of brand ambassadors and enjoyed working with Brooklyn during the launch of our new flagship Oxford Street store and during our Autumn/Winter 21 campaign. We always review the ambassadors who feature in our campaigns and decided to work with a different range of talent for Spring/Summer 22."

Football

The world of football was a potential early career option for the Beckham. As his dad is one of the world's most famous footballers, this would have seemed like a natural choice. Young Beckham played for Arsenal's youth team but he was released from the team when he was 16 years old.

In 2015, David Beckham revealed it "broke" his heart when his eldest son didn't want to play football anymore. "One of my boys turned around to me the other day and said, 'Daddy, I'm not sure I want to play football all the time,'" Beckham told ABC at the time. "It broke my heart a little bit. He said, 'Every time I step on to the field, I know people are saying, This is David Beckham's son,' and if I am not as good as you, then it is not good enough.'"

Barista

Despite having incredibly famous parents, Beckham had a very down-to-earth first job. He worked in a coffee shop in 2015 when he served up cappuccinos and lattes to members of the public.
