Brooklyn brownstone fire kills resident

A fire tore through a Brooklyn brownstone Wednesday morning, killing a resident, officials said.

The fire erupted on the ground floor of the four-story building on Kent St. near Manhattan Ave. in Greenpoint about 8:50 a.m. and quickly spread to the floor above.

The victim was found dead inside the home. The body was so badly burned it was not immediately clear if the victim was a man or a woman, officials said.

It took more than 60 firefighters to douse the fire, which was brought under control in 40 minutes.

FDNY fire marshals were working to determine the cause of the blaze.
