Brooklyn dad dies in motorcycle crash on curved Queens roadway

A 32-year-old Brooklyn dad and died in a motorcycle crash on a curved Queens street, police said Saturday.

Christopher Tarry was zipping west along Cooper Ave. near Irving Ave. in Ridgewood about 5:30 p.m. Friday when he “failed to navigate the roadway” and lost control of his Suzuki motorcycle, police said.

Motorists heading west on Cooper Ave. must steer through a slight turn to the south as they approach Irving Ave.

Tarry was thrown from his motorcycle and landed several feet away, said police.

Family members said that Tarry was popping a wheelie when the accident happened, but police did not confirm. Their investigation is ongoing.

First responders found Tarry, who worked for an armored car company, sprawled out on the pavement with serious injuries across his body, cops said. EMS rushed him to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, but he could not be saved.

Family members gathered at his East Flatbush apartment on Saturday to commiserate and remember him as a precocious young man with a sharp sense of humor who had learned Spanish, Russian, and Yiddish all while holding down a job and raising a daughter.

”He kept you laughing, he was a comedian and a half,” his grandmother, Ernestine Tarry, said.

”One time we were on the train, and this man was listening to a conversation we were having, and he had tears rolling down his eyes, she remembered.

Tarry leaves behind a 12-year-old named Victoria who family members say is learning how to process the loss.

”We’re just trying to get through,” said his mother, Tarsha Tarry, who said she was waiting on cops to give her more information about what happened.

”He was a stay-at-home dad for the first few years. He learned Russian because he wanted Victoria to learn Russian too. We just found a Russian book in his room,” she added.
