- The city of New York is honoring the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on what would have been her 88th birthday. Today the city renamed the Brooklyn Municipal Building in honor of the Brooklyn native. Justice Ginsburg was born in Flatbush and fought for justice and equality her entire life. Mayor de Blasio said her legacy of leadership and activism has, and will inspire many people for generations to come. In 1993, she became the second woman to serve on the US Supreme Court. Justice Ginsburg died on September 18.
