Brooksville mourns garbage truck driver killed in crash
BROOKSVILLE, Fla. (WFLA) — The City of Brooksville is mourning the loss of sanitation employee Ed Johnson after he was killed in a crash on Monday, the city announced.
Johnson, who had retired after 15 years of service before returning to work in April 2023, was operating a City of Brooksville garbage truck when the crash occurred.

In a release sent out Monday, the city wrote in part, “Our hearts go out to his spouse, Mrs. Peggy Johnson, who lost her husband of many years. Please join us in sending thoughts and prayers during this time. Memorial services will be announced by the family at a later date.”
The crash is being investigated by Florida Highway Patrol.
