Broomfield declares April as child abuse prevention and awareness month
Mar. 12—April 2021 is child abuse prevention and awareness month in Broomfield.
Mayor Pat Quinn read the proclamation at Tuesday's city council meeting. He invited community members to use the month to raise awareness and increase prevention of child abuse in Broomfield.
"Our community must address child maltreatment as a public health concern and develop strategies as a community to strengthen families," the proclamation reads. "The City and County of Broomfield believes community action and collaboration are crucial elements of child abuse prevention."
The proclamation lists the following community partners: Court Appointed Special Advocates of Adams and Broomfield counties, Broomfield Early Childhood Council, Mental Health Partners, Community Reach Center, Ralston House, A Precious Child, Broomfield Health and Human Services, the Broomfield Library, Broomfield Recreation Services and Broomfield Police.
"All this month we encourage individuals, government institutions, businesses, community associations in our community to show support for thriving communities, thriving families and thriving children by planting a pinwheel garden at your home, school office or community event and help make great childhoods happen in the city and county of Broomfield," the proclamation states.
