Will it will be brotherly love for Brewers' William, Cardinals' Willson Contreras when they meet on the field on April 7?

Right now, William Contreras has his focus squarely on learning his new teammates and preparing for the season.

But he allowed himself to look ahead just a little bit, to April 7. That's when the Milwaukee Brewers host the St. Louis Cardinals for the first time.

In addition to the two teams predicted to once again be the best in the National League Central squaring off, it'll be the first of 13 times this year Contreras will play opposite his older brother, Willson, who signed a big free-agent deal in December to catch for the Cardinals.

"Obviously he’s my brother. But once we’re between the lines, we’re enemies. We’re competitors," Contreras said through translator Carlos Brizuela. "Let the best team win and just go out there and play your hardest."

Willson Contreras is well-known to the Brewers and their fans from his days with the Chicago Cubs.

He was in the middle of more than one altercation caused by what he felt like was Milwaukee targeting him with pitches, and also relished the big moments he took part in over the years with lengthy home-run trots and kisses blown to booing Brewers fans at American Family Field.

William, who's 25 years old to Willson's 30, was asked if there might be any trash-talking between the siblings along the way, considering the rivalry that has developed over the years between Milwaukee and St. Louis.

"We’ll definitely say hi to each other first at-bat," he said. "But after that it’s game time and let whoever’s better win."

Contreras also addressed his tweet in the wake of his trade to the Brewers from the Atlanta Braves — one that featured multiple broken-heart emojis and riled up the team's followers a bit on social media.

Having spent his entire career with the Braves, won his first World Series ring and made his first All-Star Game with them, his reaction was understandable.

But he also made it clear he's turned the page and is eager for his new opportunity.

"It was different because I spent my whole career there, so it was a shock in the moment," he said. "But I’m just thankful to be here and it’s very nice of the fans to welcome me in, and I’m just looking forward to playing in front of them."
