Brothers who died in a Lakeland motorcycle crash identified by police

Two brothers died after their motorcycle crashed shortly after 7 p.m. Thursday near the 2100 block of Harden Boulevard, closing the road for about four hours.

In a news release Saturday, Lakeland police said Daniel Snell, 21, was driving a 2006 Honda CBR600 motorcycle with his brother, Nicholas Snell, 19, on the back. Both brothers are from Lakeland. Police said the motorcycle was traveling south on Harden Boulevard and began rounding a curve when, for unknown reasons, it left the road, crossed the grassy median and traveled into the northbound lanes.

Both of the brothers were struck by a 2020 Chevrolet Trax sport utility vehicle driven north by Kimber Lewis, 33.

Lakeland police, Polk County Fire Rescue and the Lakeland Fire Department arrived on scene and began life-saving measures. But both men on the motorcycle pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the SUV, who did not show any apparent injuries, had come to a controlled stop and remained at the scene after the crash.

The investigation into the crash remains open, police said. If anyone has any additional information regarding the crash, contact investigating police officer Camilo Almeida at Camilo.almeida@lakelandgov.net.
