What Brought New York's Best Chef's All to the Same Restaurant?

Something was cooking at the Four Seasons Restaurant in Manhattan on May 21, and it wasn’t just in the kitchen. That evening, Town & Country editor in chief Stellene Volandes hosted a party in honor of T&C contributing editor Ruth Reichl and her latest book, Save Me the Plums. Guests including Danny Meyer, Daniel Boulud, Susur Lee, James Truman, the Four Seasons’ Alex von Bidder, and Alessia Antinori flocked to the Treehouse, the restaurant’s second-floor cocktail lounge, to raise a glass-and, of course, have a bite to eat. And while it’s unlikely anyone left hungry-especially after a tray of Reichl’s favorite sweet, the English toffee from L.A.-based Littlejohn’s candies made its way around the room-it’s important to note that that the evening proved a point that’s made beautifully in the book being celebrated: good food is fantastic, but good company might be the most nourishing thing of all.
