Browning, Bigfork stay unbeaten; Ronan wins in Alaska

Jan. 17—BROWNING — Mecca Bullchild discord 20 points, 11 during a huge third quarter for Browning, and the Lady Indians rolled to a 64-30 non-conference girls basketball win over Shelby Tuesday.

Sugar Spoonhunter added 14 points — she hit two of her four 3-pointers in Browning's 24-4 third-quarter burst — for the unbeaten Lady Indians (9-0) of the Northwest A.

Cameron Blevins scored 16 points for the District 1-B Coyotes.

BIGFORK — Braedon Gunlock scored 14 points to lead four Bigfork players in double figures, and the Valkyries downed Eureka in a District 7-B battle.

Ava Davey and Paeton Gunlock added 13 points each for the unbeaten Vals (10-0 overall, 6-0 in league). Paeton Gunlock hit three 3-pointers. Madison Chappuis added 12 for Bigfork.

Dylan Sharp led Eureka with five points. The Lions fell to 3-8, 2-4 in league.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Olivia Heiner hit a layup off a press-breaker in the final minute to give Ronan some breathing room in a 44-40 win over Metlakatla at the Alaska Airlines Classic tournament Tuesday.

The Maidens (3-6) saw a 38-32 lead shrink to 41-40 with 1:04 left, but held off the Miss Chiefs.

Lauryn Buhr led Ronan with 10 points, while Heiner had nine. Leina Ulutoa had six points and eight rebounds.

Ryley Booth had a game-high 18 for Metlakatla, including three 3-pointers.
