Now let's talk about the news to know Monday.

But first, don't count on a bonus: A New Jersey country club sued its own waiter for spilling wine on an ultra-expensive Hermès purse. 👛

Could we please finish enjoying fall before the freeze?

A blast of record-breaking Arctic air is charging across the country this week. The wintry weather is less than ideal for people who hate the cold (🙋‍♀️) and also for crops: The cold will bring the growing season to a screeching halt in much of the southern and eastern USA. "Conditions can kill crops, new growth and sensitive vegetation," the National Weather Service in Mobile, Alabama, warned. The strong winds and cold temperatures will speed up the end of the prime fall foliage season in many locations. R.I.P., fall-themed Instagram feeds.

Is this about Thanksgiving? Turkeys riot in New Jersey

These angry birds aren't playing: A gaggle of up to 60 aggressive wild turkeys is reportedly causing “big problems” in New Jersey. And MLB all-star Todd Frazier has had enough of these mother flocking turkeys in his mother flocking town (see for yourself). Frazier tweeted about the fowl play in the Toms River over the weekend, including a photo of his Jeep surrounded by birds. "They are a big problem here," Frazier tweeted. "They have come close to harming my family and friends, ruined my cars, trashed my yard and much more..."

What everyone’s talking about

'I think we landed!'

Y I K E S. An American Airlines plane slid off the runway Monday at Chicago O'Hare International Airport amid hazardous weather conditions. Thankfully, no passengers were injured during the scare – but it looks like the plane itself took a beating. One passenger captured footage of the incident, which shows the plane skidding into the median and its right wing tip scraping the snow-covered ground. Once it comes to a stop, a woman says, "I think we landed!"

Nikki Haley isn't running for president – yet

Nikki Haley wants to make it clear she’s not running for president. That is, in 2020. But the former South Carolina governor and U.N. ambassador – and author of "With All Due Respect," a new book about her experiences working for President Donald Trump – leaves little question that she is positioning herself to be a contender to lead the GOP once Trump’s tenure is over. In an interview with USA TODAY, Haley – possibly the only top Trump official who has maintained good relations with the president and yet defined some distance – touched on the now-infamous phone call between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. She said, "I don't think it's good practice to ask a foreign country to investigate an American, period."

Former Michigan State star and Detroit Lions wide receiver dies at 38

Former Michigan State football All-American and Detroit Lions wide receiver Charles Rogers died. He was 38. Former MSU and NFL tight end Chris Baker confirmed the news on Twitter, saying he spoke to Rogers' mom. “Devastated to learn of the passing of my spartan brother Charles,” Baker tweeted. The Lions selected Rogers as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2003 draft, but his career never took off as he struggled with drug issues. He had just 36 catches for 440 yards with four TDs in 15 games before he left the league.
