ELKHART — Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers headline the Saturday, June 18, night of the 34th Elkhart Jazz Festival with a performance at The Lerner Theatre, 410 S. Main St.

The lineup was announced Friday for the 34th festival, which takes place June 16-19 in downtown Elkhart at various outdoor and indoor venues.

The Friday, June 17, evening concert presents a double feature: The Queen’s Cartoonists and Gunhild Carling at The Lerner.

The festival begins with a free concert at 7 p.m. June 16 by Truth in Jazz Big Band at The Lerner.

Wellfield Botanic Garden also starts its “Groovin’ in the Garden” series with performances by David Hilliker Quartet and Chicago-based Rica Obsesion, beginning at 7 p.m. June 16. Tickets will be available at the Wellfield website and at the gate. Additionally, admission is included with proof of purchase to the Elkhart Jazz Festival.

The Queen’s Cartoonists perform at 6 p.m. June 17, playing music from classic cartoons and contemporary animation, with the music synchronized to video projections of the original films.

Gunhild Carling — Sweden’s Queen of Swing — follows on The Lerner’s stage. She is famous for her ability to play multiple instruments, sing and dance. She also is featured as a singer and multi-instrumentalist in several of Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox’s adaptations of pop songs, which have gained millions of views and a global following.

The June 17 evening pass also includes performances by the Andy Brown Trio, Couch, Jazmin Ghent, Jonathan Scales Fourchestra, Nia Quintet and more.

Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers headline June 18’s night concert. Hornsby first rose to national prominence with “The Way It Is,” his 1986 Grammy-winning debut album with The Range. The title track became the most-played song on American radio in 1987.

He also was a part-time member of The Grateful Dead from September 1990 to March 1992, performing more than 100 concerts in America and Europe. His 23rd album, “’Flicted,” will be released this spring.

Sold separately as the Saturday Day Pass, June 18 also features local high schools in the morning, while festival regulars such as Dave Bennett, Kris Brownlee and Paul Decker perform throughout the day. Emily Cavanagh, Craig Gildner and Lena Seikaly also return to the festival.

The United States Air Force Shades of Blue Jazz Ensemble performs a free concert at 3 p.m. June 19 at The Lerner.

June 19 starts at 10:30 a.m. with River Oaks Community Church on the main outdoor stage, followed at 11 a.m. by The Yellow Creek Jazz Project, Christopher Lucas Wilson Trio and the Notre Dame Faculty Jazz Trio, among others.

The festival began in 1988 and annually showcases more than 100 performers while drawing visitors from around the country.

Sold individually, day passes are $25 for June 17, $35 for June 18 and $15 for June 19.

Tickets for The Queen’s Cartoonists and Gunhild Carling are $35-$15.

Tickets for Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers are $79-$39.

Festival passes also include free admission to Wellfield throughout the weekend.
