Bruce Springsteen and E Street Band coming to Baltimore

Fifty years after his first performance at Baltimore’s Civic Center, Bruce Springsteen is coming back to Charm City to help inaugurate the overhauled space now known as the Baltimore Arena.

The performance, scheduled for April 7 of next year, will be the grand opening for the newly restored venue which was also formerly the Royal Farms Arena.

According to a release, The Boss first performed at the venue on June 2, 1973, returning in 2009 and April 2016.

That last show was during Springsteen’s most recent tour of North America with his E Street Band. Next year, the band will launch a 31-date U.S. tour that starts in Tampa, Florida, and wraps up in Springsteen’s hometown of Newark, New Jersey, before heading to Europe through July.

Other dates include a performance at Washington’s Capital One Arena on March 23.

In case you miss it: After blazing through Europe, Springsteen and The E Street Band will tour North America again in August 2023.

Tickets for the Baltimore show go on sale via Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan platform beginning Tuesday, July 26, at 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Last month, developers held a groundbreaking for the $200 million renovation on the 60-year-old downtown building. California developers the Oak View Group will lease the 15,000-person arena for the next 30 years in exchange for funding the overhaul of the city-owned property. Investors on the project include music mogul Pharrell Williams and basketball star Kevin Durant.

By the time Springsteen arrives, the venue could have a new name. A spokesman for the Oak View Group told The Baltimore Sun in June that naming rights to the arena have been generating buzz with local and national companies.

But to some Springsteen fans, it’s likely to remain The Boss Arena.
