The Boss is set to return to St. Paul for the first time in seven years.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will headline Xcel Energy Center on March 5. In an effort to curb ticket scalping, the tour is using Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan platform to sell tickets, at prices to be announced. Fans need to register at ticketmaster.com now through July 17 for the chance to buy tickets when they go on sale at 10 a.m. July 21.

Springsteen, 72, last toured North America in 2016 on an outing that saw the band perform 1980’s “The River” in its entirety. The tour was the year’s biggest with a gross of $268.3 million globally. Nearly 19,000 fans attended the show at the X.

That same year, Springsteen published his autobiography “Born to Run.” To promote it, Springsteen announced a Broadway residency where he performed solo and told stories from the book. Initially planned for an eight-week run, Springsteen ended up extending it to a total of 236 shows with another 31 last summer.

In May, Springsteen announced 2023 European dates and more than 1.2 million tickets have been sold, with many cities adding second and third stadium shows because of demand. In a news release announcing the dates, Springsteen said: “After six years, I’m looking forward to seeing our great and loyal fans next year. And I’m looking forward to once again sharing the stage with the legendary E Street Band. See you out there, next year – and beyond.”

Springsteen released his 20th album “Letter to You” in October 2020 and supported it with a new documentary and an appearance on “Saturday Night Live.” Last year, Springsteen issued “Renegades: Born in the USA,” an eight-part Spotify podcast with former President Barack Obama.
