The Sound of Asbury Park bands are going live.

Recent releases from Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band and Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes are live showcases of the power, and panache, of the legendary city groups on stage.

“Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes: Live In Cleveland '77” features 13 songs from the band's  May 2, 1977, show at the Agora Theater. The group, which includes Little Steve Van Zandt and the ever-mighty Miami Horns, has plenty of swagger on in the record, and a ribald sense of humor, too. Check  out on “It Ain’t the Meat, It’s the Motion” with drummer Kenny "Popeye" Pentifallo on vocals.

Classic Jukes tracks like “I Don’t Want to Go Home,” “Havin’ a Party” and “Without Love” are presented here, as is a sultry “The Fever.” A bonus is Ronnie Spector, who played several songs with the band that night. Her version of “Say Goodbye To Hollywood,” which was released as a Van Zandt-produced single later that year, is included.

Spector passed away Jan. 12, 2022.

“Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes: Live In Cleveland '77” is being released on Friday, June 3, by Cleveland International Records. Visit  www.clevelandinternational.com for more info.

“Bruce Springsteen Live” is the latest playlist available on the Springsteen Spotify channel. It taps his previous Sony releases and live drops from Nugs.net, which offers audio and visual streams of big name concerts, including Springsteen shows.

“Live” features more than 180 career-spanning performances from “Born to Run,” including tracks from the recently released Sony album “The Legendary 1979 No Nukes Concerts,” and a Nugs release of the late-period gem “Girls in Their Summer Clothes,” recorded at the TD Banknorth Garden 2007 in Boston.

The song is dedicated to Massachusetts girls and “one special girl from New Jersey.”

The collection debuted on May 10. The intention is now obvious — to whet the appetite of Boss fans for the live show as a new world tour was announced on May 24. Springsteen fans around the planet are gearing up for the shows in 2023.

Before then, Springsteen and the E Street Band's June 4, 1981, show at Wembley Arena in London has just been released by Nugs.net on Friday, June 3.

Southside Johnny and the Jukes are also on the road. Shows include July 2 at the Stone Pony Summer Stage in Asbury Park. Visit southsidejohnny.com for a complete itinerary.
