It all started in Freehold.

“The Freehold Drop” is the name of the first of five monthly streaming releases of Bruce Springsteen music on Nugs.net. The music on “Freehold” spans a rare 1975 cover of Carole King’s “Goin’ Back” from the Roxy to an unexpected 2014 cover of Lorde's “Royals” in New Zealand.

Overall, it's 35 deep live tracks, including plenty of original songs, from 1975 to 2014. Alas, no Freehold-themed “My Hometown” or “In Freehold” included in the drop.

“From 1977, a rare pair of shows in Albany and Rochester that extend the ('Born to Run') tour, but showcase newly written songs like 'Something in the Night,' 'Rendezvous' and 'The Promise,' " says curator Erik Flannigan in the drop description.

The “Freehold” release is the first of the Bruce Springsteen Live Archive Series for nugs.net subscribers.

The “Freehold” release is the first of the Bruce Springsteen Live Archive Series for nugs.net subscribers. The service is offering a free trial that offers full access to Nugs.net's streaming concert catalog, which includes shows from Santana, Allman Brothers Band, Dead & Company, Pearl Jam and many more, as well as the Springsteen content.

“When Bruce’s management came to us in 2014, they said Bruce had heard the recordings fans were making and posting on YouTube and knew there was a better way to bring higher quality live recordings direct to fans,” said Brad Serling, Nugs.net founder and CEO, in a statement.

Nugs.net has released nearly every show Bruce has played live with the E Street Band since 2014, as well as a monthly series of previously unreleased recordings from the Springsteen archives. Each show is transferred from the original tapes and mixed and mastered by Jon Altschiller at Chiller Sound in New York.
