If you're a Bruce Springsteen fan and you're headed to the Sea.Hear.Now festival in Asbury Park on Sunday, Sept. 18, be sure to head to the Transparent Clinch Gallery pop-up tent in Bradley Park.

There, left of the small stage, are six never-before-seen photographs taken by the Boss, including one self-portrait.

“I'm kind of blown away,” said fan Steve Saul, Asbury Park. “I love that they're authentic, signed by Bruce. I didn't realize he's so into photography. I want to see more. I think it's excellent.”

Five of the six photos appear to have been taken at a Race of Gentlemen event at the Jersey Shore, where participants race antique cars and motorcycles on the beach. Springsteen attended the 2017 edition in Wildwood. He was not at Sea.Hear.Now on Saturday.

Springsteen and his camera were a regular thing in Jersey in the Summer of '17, before he began his run in “Springsteen on Broadway.” He also brought it to the Freehold Memorial Day Parade, and to Asbury Park.

The photos at Sea.Hear.Now, which were not announced prior to the fest, are signed and not for sale. They have a gritty realism about them, burnished with a patina of time and sand. The self-portrait features Springsteen slightly looking down, with a part of his face cropped out of the photo.

The pop-up gallery features artwork by other musicians playing the festival, including a series of self-portraits of Saturday's headliner, Stevie Nicks. Most of the photos were taken before the era of the cell phone selfie.

Nicks lit up the night during her performance on Saturday after a stiff start. The Fleetwood Mac veteran gained momentum with a performance of “Gypsy,” and she brought things together with a moving cover of Tom Petty's “Free Fallin'.”

“Landslide,” which sparked a sing-along among the approximately 30,000 on the beach, was dedicated to her goddaughter Tessa Fleetwood, who was in the audience.

Nicks said playing the Asbury Park fest was akin to a “fairytale.”
