Is Bruce Springsteen taking us for a ride?

The Boss posted another cryptic pic on Tuesday, Sept. 27, on his social media, this time of a three-bolt steel and wood steering wheel on the dashboard of a late model car. The post came a day after a mysterious picture of a two-lane backwoods road.

Is it a new album? A new tour leg? A cool car show?

“Chrome wheel, fuel injected and stepping out over the line … whooooaaaa!” tweeted one fan.

“Clearly this is the new album,” tweeted another.

There is a history. The last time Springsteen’s social media posted a random, artistically rendered pic was as a tease for the solo album “Western Stars” in 2019. Recently Rolling Stone publisher Jann Wenner disclosed that he’s currently listening to a “stunning” new Springsteen album that’s due to be released this fall, according to a Billboard interview with the publisher.

As for a tour, stadium shows in the U.S. for the E Street Band are expected in late summer of 2023 after a U.S. arena tour and Europe stadium shows next year. Then again, a wild card guess might be this is a tease for the annual Race of Gentlemen, which takes place Thursday, Sept. 29, through Sunday, Oct. 2, in Wildwood. The Boss is a fan of the event, which features vintage cars and motorcycles on the beach. He even took pics of the scene in 2017, which were displayed at the recent Sea.Hear.Now festival in Asbury Park.

Fans, for the most part, are happily perplexed. Even the account of Rachel Zegler, a Jersey native and star of “West Side Story,” posted a quizzical “HELLO?”

“C'mon Bruce — my brain is hurting,” tweeted another fan. “Just spill it out in clear language!”
