More than 10,000 people attended Saturday's Levitt at the Falls concert for the group Brulé, a contemporary Native American music group from Sioux falls that has sold more than one million CDs worldwide.

The concert attendance set a new record for the Levitt, an amphitheater which offers a free summer concert series in downtown Sioux Falls.

"It's just been incredible," Levitt Executive Director Nancy Halverson said.

Because the crowd at Saturday's concert was so large, a section of Philips Avenue was blocked off between 4th and 5th Street. People were able to stand and sit there for the show. Halverson said everyone who wanted to be there found a way.

Since the pandemic, Levitt concerts have also been live-streamed, and more than 12,000 people tuned in to watch Brulé on the Levitt's Facebook page.

"It’s really about making it accessible. We want to make sure that everybody can enjoy it," Halverson said.

Brulé performed at the Levitt back in 2019, and about 8,000 people were in attendance for that concert.

Last year was the Levitt's record attendance year with more than 68,000 people throughout the summer. After the Brulé crowd this weekend, this year's attendance is already at 70,000.

"We're just so excited to be back in full swing after the pandemic year," Halverson said. "The kindness and support of our community has made this possible, and I hope we can continue to grow year after year."
