Bruno's Pizza open after car crashes into store Monday

Jun. 28—Bruno's Pizza, 1800 E. Market St., will open this afternoon at 4 p.m. after a car crashed into the side of the building Monday night.

At approximately 9 p.m. Monday a car driven by a juvenile turned onto 18th Street while moving too fast, jumping the sidewalk and crashing into the business.

There were no injuries.

The impact of the crash pushed a stove inside the store nearly a foot. Chief Executive Officer Gina Curl was on site Tuesday as repairs were made.

She said beside the exterior wall, a banner and the sidewalk sustained damage.

As the business prepared to open, the only indication the accident had happened was a large plywood board covering up the damaged section of wall.

"We got everything fixed," Curl said. "The kid who had the accident helped. They helped clean up and we took them home after. That's what we are about, community. I think they were scared and learned their lesson and that's what matters."
