Brunswick County could get a second Biscuitville location.

Earlier this year, the company announced the county would get its first Biscuitville on Main Street in Shallotte.

Here’s what we know.

The second restaurant would be near Southport.

A Biscuitville is slated for a parcel in the River Run Shopping Center between Southport and Oak Island.

A company with ties to Biscuitville purchased the property.

According to online documents obtained from the Brunswick County Register of Deeds website, the property at 5059 Southport-Supply Road was sold last month to BV 232 LLC. Online records from the North Carolina Secretary of State website shows Maurice N. Jennings Jr. is the limited liability company’s registered agent, and the address is 1414 Yanceyville Street, Suite 300, Greensboro, N.C.-- the same as the home office for Biscuitville.

Documents specifically mention operation of a Biscuitville restaurant.

Documents from Brunswick County Register of Deeds show the property's previous owner, Bobby Ray Miller, desired to sell the property to Biscuitville. But there was initially some dispute among the owners of the parcels in River Run Shopping Center about whether food service could operate on the site due to restrictive covenants set forth by the original developer. An amendment was filed to those covenants and it states “A Biscuitville may operate on this property." Deed documents filed on the same date show the property was conveyed to BV 232 LLC, an affiliate of Biscuitville.

The site has been home to many restaurants over the years.

The site slated for Biscuitville is a vacant lot next to the McDonald’s. The site was once home to a building that housed several different restaurants over the years, including a Western Sizzlin’, a Golden Corral, and Atlantic Seafood and Steaks. In the last few years, the building was torn down.

This area has seen several new businesses in recent months.

The River Run Shopping Center has seen some revitalization in recent years with a Big Lots moving into a vacant building that previously housed the Food Lion grocery store. Other recent additions include Southport Suzie’s, a frozen yogurt bar operating in a storefront that once houses a bank, and a Cookout, which is being constructed on the former Pizza Hut site.

There is no word yet on when construction will begin.

The StarNews reached out to Biscuitville's press office for comment but had not heard back by press time.
