Brush and debris drop-off site opening on Saturday

Jun. 30—Sierra Marling

A storm debris drop-off site will open today at 140 E. Bill Eads Road in Richmond.

The site will be open through July 29 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m to allow those affected by the recent storm to dispose of debris. Those who come by will need to check-in and unload their own branches and limbs.

According to Deputy Judge Executive Jill Williams, the Bill Eads Bridge construction that was originally slated to begin has been postponed for the debris cleanup effort. The bridge had not been closed yet but was scheduled to be closed for construction this month. It will instead be open for patrons to cross, and construction will take place next month.

"We delayed in order to get the brush and trees cleaned up after the storm," Williams explained.

It is noted in official advertisements that this site is strictly for brush debris or natural vegetation and that no drop-offs will be allowed outside of the hours of operation.
