Florida Forest Service workers contained a brush fire on Monday near the State Road 207 and Interstate 95 interchange in St. Johns County, forest service spokeswoman Julie Allen said.

"It is 100% (contained)," she said.

Contained means crews have dug one or more containment lines around the fire to help keep it from spreading. No structures were in danger, and there were no injuries reported, she said. The fire reached about 12 acres.

Crews were still on site on Monday afternoon looking for hot spots, Allen said.

The brush fire began after a lightning strike, she said.

"It could be a couple days before you see fire activity from a lightning (strike)," Allen said.

St. Johns County Fire Rescue also responded to the scene.

Smoke signs have been placed in both directions on I-95 a couple of miles south of the S.R. 207 exit, according to a news release from the Florida Highway Patrol.

"Motorists are encouraged to use caution when traveling in these areas," according to the release. "Visibility may deteriorate quickly due to smoke/fog type conditions, especially during the night time and early morning hours. Motorists are reminded to reduce their speed as necessary to avoid a collision and utilize their low beam headlights in order to adapt to changing weather conditions."
