The European Sleeper line from Brussels to Berlin is being extended further east to Dresden and Prague in March, but operators say they are keeping ticket prices the same as when the route opened in mid-2023.

The aim is "to keep the night train attractive as an alternative to flying," European Sleeper said in its announcement in January. Prices range from €19 for an Amsterdam-Berlin seat to €139 for a bed all the way from Brussels to Prague.

The Brussels to Berlin sleeper train, which also stops in Rotterdam and Amsterdam, will be extended to Dresden and Prague from March 25.

The connection is set to boost travel options in the Germany-hosted 2024 football European Championship, the final of which is to be played in Berlin. Dresden is not a host city, but Belgium, Czech Republic and the Netherlands are among the 24 competing nations.

The announcement followed expansions announced last year by Austria's ÖBB railway company, both to its night train network on the European mainland and to its fleet of trains.

Dutch-Belgian company European Sleeper meanwhile also aims to launch an Amsterdam-Barcelona night train in 2025 or 2026.
