Bryce Jarvis fans eight, helps Sod Poodles bounce back with road win over NW Arkansas

SPRINGDALE, Ark. — One day after getting turned back by NW Arkansas, the Amarillo Sod Poodles pulled a 180 with a brilliant performance on the mound on Wednesday.

Bryce Jarvis, a former first-round pick and one of the top prospects in the Arizona Diamondbacks' organization, threw a no-hitter through five innings to go with eight strikeouts and four walks to lead Amarillo to a 5-0 win over the Naturals.

In addition to Jarvis' outstanding work on the mound, three other pitchers combined for five strikeouts, two walks and just two hits for the Soddies (6-5). This was a day after the pitching staff surrendered 16 runs.

The offense was excellent as well, piling up 11 hits with Ryan Bliss, Tristin English, Juan Centeno and Adrian Del Castillo each collecting two hits a piece. English and Del Castillo each smacked a solo home run. English sent one over the wall in the fourth and Del Castillo in the fifth.

Centeno scored Del Castillo in the seventh on an RBI single, Centeno scored later on a wild pitch and Bliss sent Del Castillo home in the ninth on an RBI single to give the game its final score.

The Naturals and the Soddies continue their series with games on Thursday and Friday set for 7:05 p.m., while Saturday is slated for 6:05 p.m. The two squads conclude the six-game set at 2:05 p.m. Sunday.
