Brycen Coleman, 2024 wide receiver, commits to Vanderbilt football

Vanderbilt football added a commitment in its 2024 class from three-star wide receiver Brycen Coleman. The 6-foot-5, 200 pounder from Berlin, Maryland, is the 956th-ranked player and 123rd-ranked wide receiver nationwide.

It's too early to say how the class will fully shake out as the Commodores have just five commits, but the current class is ranked 33rd in the country in the 247Sports Composite. Coleman is the first receiver commit in the class, which also contains two quarterbacks, an edge defender and an offensive lineman.

"I feel like what really separated Vanderbilt from everybody else was just how much I was treated like family already," Coleman told the Salisbury Daily Times. "And how much they really have a vision for me. A lot schools had plans for me, but I didn't feel like they would help my goals of playing in the NFL as much as Vanderbilt will."

Coleman chose Vanderbilt over Minnesota and James Madison as well as FCS schools Villanova and Campbell. He also played quarterback in high school and helped lead his Stephen Decatur team to the state semifinals.

"I really feel like Vanderbilt being in the SEC is going to get me exposure, but also, coach (Clark) Lea's vision at Vanderbilt for the program," Coleman said "I want to be a part of turning that program around, just like how my dad, me and a bunch of our guys that are playing Division I turned it around at Decatur in the same way. I just feel like that's really cool to be a part of and I really believe that Vanderbilt's going to do that in the SEC."
