🌱 BSU Sponsors PBS Documentaries + SweetFrog Princess Tiara Craft

Morning, Laurel! Let's get this Wednesday started off right. Here are the most important things happening today in town.

First, today's weather:

Some sun; windy, cooler. High: 55 Low: 34.

Here are the top three stories in Laurel today:

  1. Law enforcement officials in Maryland recently dealt a serious blow to an Eastern Shore drug trafficking organization. Maryland State Police spent several months working on an investigation that led to the indictment of nine people and the seizure of more than $1 million worth of cocaine, opioids, heroin, marijuana and methamphetamines. (WTOP)

  2. Governor Larry Hogan and state health officials recently encouraged Marylanders to get boosted between now and May 2, to qualify for next week’s VaxCash 2.0 $1 million grand prize drawing. Vax Cash 2.0 is awarding $2 million in cash prizes to a total of 12 Maryland residents. Gov. Hogan said, “Getting fully protected with a booster shot continues to be the single most important thing you can do to minimize the impact of COVID-19 and its variants." (Maryland.gov)

  3. Maryland Public Television (MPT) and Bowie State University recently announced that Bowie State has signed on as a premier sponsor for two important original PBS documentaries—Harriet Tubman: Visions of Freedom and Becoming Frederick Douglass— that shed new light on the lives of a pair of iconic Marylanders who were towering figures in the struggle to end slavery. The one-hour documentaries will premiere on MPT and nationally on PBS stations, PBS.org and the PBS Video App in October 2022. (Bowie State)
