Jin of BTS is set to release “The Astronaut,” his forthcoming single that will be out of this world thanks to collaborators Kygo and Coldplay.

The BTS member announced his new single during the group’s free “Yet To Come” concert in Busan, which was held on Saturday as part of their efforts to help the South Korean city in its bid to host the 2030 World Expo.

HYBE confirmed that a physical album for the solo single will be released on Oct. 28. On Wednesday, Jin confirmed he co-wrote the single with British band Coldplay. Kygo served as a producer while Coldplay's Chris Martin and son Moses were on background vocals.

In 2021, BTS and Coldplay collaborated for the first time on their single “My Universe.”

Jin is the latest BTS member to release a solo music project following RM’s “Sexy Nukim” last month, J-Hope’s album “Jack in the Box” in July and Jungkook’s single “My You” and his “Left and Right” collaboration with Charlie Puth in June.

Following the single’s release, Jin is now set to start the process for his mandatory military conscription, which HYBE confirmed earlier this week. The BTS member will turn 30 in December, which is why he must enlist before then.

BTS’ other members will eventually enlist based on their individual schedules, but HYBE anticipates that the group will reconvene "around 2025." HYBE’s confirmation puts to rest months of debate involving South Korean government officials and the public alike over BTS’s military enlistment.
