Jungkook has explained his decision to delete his personal Instagram account with over 50 million followers.

The BTS member abruptly deleted his Instagram account on Tuesday.

In a message posted on the artist-to-fan communication app Weverse, Jungkook, 25, assured fans that he wasn’t hacked and said that he had also deleted the Instagram app from his cellphone. He claimed he wouldn't be using it again, opting to communicate on WeVerse instead.

“I deleted my Instagram account. It wasn’t hacked,” he wrote. “I just deleted because I wasn’t using it much… So don’t worry!”

Jungkook launched his Instagram account in December 2021, along with his fellow BTS members. Last year, the "Left and Right" singer set a new record as the fastest person to reach 1 million likes on a post, which took under two minutes.

In 2021, Jungkook’s fellow member V set two world records with his Instagram account, reaching 1 million followers in 43 minutes and reaching 10 million followers in just under 5 hours.
