BTS makes history with fourth consecutive win for Favorite Pop Group at AMAs

BTS had a historic night at the 2022 American Music Awards (AMAs).

On Monday, the K-pop supergroup won the award for Favorite Pop Group or Duo for the fourth consecutive time, the most of any act in AMAs history.

The group was previously in a five-way tie for the most Favorite Pop/Rock Duo or Group wins with Aerosmith, One Direction, The Black Eyed Peas and Hall & Oates.

BTS was also awarded the Favorite K-Pop Artist award, the first of the new category dedicated to the genre, beating out BLACKPINK, SEVENTEEN, TWICE and TXT.

Created in 1974, the AMAss is an annual ceremony that commemorates the most popular artists, albums and songs of the year. The nominees are selected by members of the music industry and winners are selected by a poll of fans.

Previously, BTS became the first Asian artists to win the Artist of the Year award in 2021.
