Rumors about BTS taking a break to complete their mandated military service have been swirling for quite some time now. In South Korea, all able-bodied male citizen between 18 and 28 are required to serve in the military for at least 21 months, and though there have been exemptions for people like athletes, but K-pop stars aren't typically afforded one and it seems like that won't be changing anytime soon. South Korea's Defense Ministry just announced that they will not change their exemption rules, meaning that all the members of BTS will have to enlist eventually.

The South Korean agency had been reviewing the rules and considering a change, but they ultimately ruled against it. According to CNN, South Korean official, Lee Nam-woo, announced that the ministry had actually chosen to tighten the rules as they prepare to deal with the results of a falling birthrate, which means that the agency would be handing out even fewer exemptions than before.

The announcement brings up questions about how Jin will handle his enlistment. He's the band's oldest member and previous reports have said that Jin will likely have to sign up for his military service sometime in 2020.

Amid rumors that the members of BTS were hoping for exemptions, the ARMY took to Twitter to defend them from those accusations.

Details about how BTS will move forward when the time comes to sign up are still unclear, but there's no doubt that they're probably coming up with a plan.
