The BTS x Khalid Collaboration Is Likely Happening Sometime Soon, According to Khalid
That BTS x Khalid collaboration we’ve all been waiting for is officially on the horizon, per Khalid himself. Speaking to BBC, the “Talk” singer opened up about his past and future collaborations with the likes of Billie Eilish and BTS, hinting that his long-awaited collab with the Bangtan Boys might come sooner than later.
"I have a strong feeling there will be progress... and something will arrive," Khalid teasingly said. Though enthusiastic about the prospect of the two acts finally linking up, Khalid kept details under wraps, saying that he tries "not to talk about" the K-pop supergroup BTS because he "doesn't want to cramp their style."
Khalid first opened up about the prospect of a collab in a recent interview with Good Morning Britain, and he did not hold back on words (or praise) for the septet.
“There’s definitely talks of working on a collaboration. I feel it will be awesome, I just gotta get to it,” he said. “We’re mutual fans of each other, and I feel like just because you don’t speak the same language as each other, doesn’t mean you can’t necessarily have a friendship. I feel they’re just extraordinary; they’re exceptional, and they deserve every single thing that’s happening to them right now."
The ARMY has been anticipating the collab since BTS’s leader, RM, casually confirmed it in a radio interview, in early May, during one of the band’s Love Yourself: Speak Yourself tour stops in the U.S. When asked about their relationship with Khalid and the potential collaboration, RM did not hesitate.
"He’s our friend, from the very start. He was a rookie, and we were new artists to the U.S.," he recalled. "The first time ever we came to Billboard Music Awards, in 2017, we met and just loved each other’s music. So what I can say is: It is really happening. Not just conversations — it is actually happening.”
Though RM did not spill details about a potential release date, barely acknowledging that it could “maybe” release in 2019, ARMYs are already making bets on when we can expect the track to drop.
After Khalid’s latest hint, some believe it could be RM and Suga’s upcoming song for the group’s mobile game, BTS WORLD, which has an original soundtrack that officially comes out on June 21. Whether it drops then or later, we’ll certainly keep our eyes (and ears) peeled.
