When will Buc-ee’s open first Mississippi store in Pass Christian? Here’s the timeline.

If you want to gift Beaver Nuggets or Buc-ee’s swag for Christmas but don’t want to drive from the Gulfport-Biloxi metro to Foley, Alabama, you may be in luck ... next year.

Buc-ee’s is opening its first Mississippi travel center off Interstate 10 in Pass Christian. The chain and Harrison County are paying for the multi-million dollar project expected to boost business and tourism on the Mississippi Coast.

The Mississippi Department of Transportation and Harrison County supervisors announced the first phase of construction, an I-10 widening project at the Menge Avenue exit, on Thursday.

A bridge will be replaced on the interstate overpass, and entrance and exit ramps will be widened. More lanes will be added to Firetower Road around the store.

But when will Buc-ee’s officially open? Construction has not yet begun on the actual store, but the projected opening date is in 18 months, or December 2024. That date is subject to change.

I-10 road work is expected to last for about a year.

“We expect this project to fuel economic growth in the region, and this construction is an exciting step forward in this highly anticipated development,” Harrison County Supervisor Marlin Ladner said in a press release.
