Anthony McCarthy paces Twinsburg; Amire Robinson leads Buchtel in boys basketball wins
BOYS BASKETBALL
Twinsburg 70, Wadsworth 66
In a Suburban League National Conference tilt that featured eight lead changes and three ties, the Tigers (8-1, 5-1) pulled away in the fourth quarter to beat the Grizzlies (6-6, 2-4) Friday night.
Twinsburg’s Anthony McCarthy led all scorers with 29 points. Teammates David Coniglio (14 points) and Reggie Bussey (9 points, 10 rebounds, six assists) were solid.
“We’re an athletic team and that’s what we stress,” Bussey said. “We crash the boards, finish down low and beat them off the ball. We’re small, but we’re fast and I think that helps us at the end of games and in the fourth quarter.”
Wadsworth was missing leading scorer Solomon Callaghan to injury, but got a monster night from Maxx Bosley (24 points, four assists).
Alex Risher (16 points), Caden Madigan (13) and Connor Sams (11) also reached double figures for the Grizzlies.
Tallmadge 76, Barberton 51
Four Tallmadge players scored in double figures asndthe Blue Devils posted a Suburban League American Conference at home.
Caiden McCullough, a junior guard, led Tallmadge (6-3, 4-2) with 17 points including five 3-pointers. Collin Dixon added 15 points, and Kyle Ries and Ty Hurst each finished with 13 points.
Senior Tony Fox topped all scorers with 25 points for the Magics.
Walsh Jesuit 56, Padua 54
The Warriors (9-2, 4-0) picked up a key Crown Conference victory thanks to the efforts of Rico Pickett (22 points) and Zach Halligan (10).
Buchtel 81, Ellet 44
Amire Robinson scored 26 points to lead the visiting Griffins (9-4, 7-0 City Series) to a win. Buchtel's Christian Harmon totaled 13 points and 12 rebounds, Khoi Thurmon scored 12 points and Braylin Wells had seven points.
Jackson 58, North Canton Hoover 56 (2 OT)
Ben Sullivan scored 11 points, including the game-winner for the Polar Bears (8-4, 5-2) in Federal League action. Teammate Kevin James had 20 points.
The Vikings (9-3, 4-3) were paced by Eli Barker (20 points) and Wes Collins (16).
Norton 44, Woodridge 43
Cole Newman scored 13 points and Nolan Dobben added 12 as the Panthers improved to 5-1 in the Metro Athletic Conference. Norton's Mason Etheridge scored seven of his 10 points in the fourth quarter.
Massillon 63, Canton Central Catholic 53
Juniors Ardell Banks and Brennen Crowe scored 18 and 13 points, respectively, to lead the Tigers (5-5) to victory.
Green 82, University School 45
Zack Oddo (22 points), Brady Rollyson (12) and Jarrett Taylor (12) reached double figures for the Bulldogs.

Maumee Bay Classic
Louisville’s Dylan Rhoads (126 pounds), Pablo Castro (132), Dominic Hoffarth (138), Blake Schaffer (190) and Cameron Brazek (285) joined Highland’s James Scavuzzo (157) and CVCA’s Kyle Snider (215) in reaching Saturday’s finals.

Tallmadge 2,487, Kent Roosevelt 2,471
The host Blue Devils came away with a 16-pin victory at Stonehedge. Gavin Warren rolled a 456 series and Keahn Taylor totaled 417 pins before the Baker games. Matt Richards led Kent Roosevelt with games of 254 and 276 for his match-high 530 series.
Springfield 2,552, Cloverleaf 1,980
Dalton Conley and Wyatt Keys led the host Spartans (7-3, 6-1) to a MAC win. Conley topped all bowlers with a 225 game and Keys finished with a 428 series.
Brunswick 2,335, Buckeye 2,310
To post a 25-pin non-league win, Brunswick took the third Baker game and was led individually by Jordan Tucker (226 game), Daniel Camarati (214) and Alex Brooks (202).
