The first high school winner is Cosmetology senior Ashton Thomas. Thomas attends BCC from Indian Valley. At BCC, Thomas is a Buckeye Ambassador, Drug Free Club and National Technical Honor Society member, and is a state qualifier for SkillsUSA, placing first at regionals. Thomas runs cross country, is a member of the Uhrichsville Christian Fellowship Church, and works at Lavish Hair Salon. Following graduation, she plans to continue her career with Lavish. Thomas was nominated by her Cosmetology instructors, Dawna Compton and Natasha McGraw.

“Ashton has set her goals high and we know she will succeed because she has excelled in the Cosmetology field here at BCC and at her internship,” they stated. Thomas is the daughter of Kelli and Shannon Thomas.

He works at Crossroads Land and Livestock and plans to continue working following graduation. He also enjoys turkey, deer, and shed hunting. Beach was nominated by his instructor, Brandon Irwin.

“Throughout the year, Matt has always shown his passion for learning new skills and applying them to projects in lab, with a positive attitude,” said Irwin. Beach is the son of Roy and Kristi Beach.

The Adult Education Student of the Month for April is Dental Assisting student Ashley Jimenez. Jimenez is employed by Consumer Support Services and hopes to eventually obtain employment in the dental field.

“I enrolled in this program for future employment but to also show my children that no matter your age, you can always go back to school to learn something different,” commented Jimenez.

“Ashley is very dependable. She works midnights and attends school during the day and always has assignments turned in on time,” said instructor Crystal Polen.

Jimenez is married to Armando and they reside in New Phila with their three children.

The three were recognized by the Buckeye Career Center Board of Education at the board’s April meeting.
