Buckeye congratulates January students of the month
Feb. 22—ASHTABULA TOWNSHIP — The Buckeye Local Board of Education recognized the district's January students of the month at a meeting on Tuesday.
Teachers who
nominated the students spoke at the meeting, recognizing them for their hard work.
The district's
January students of the month were Edgewood High School sophomore Brooke-Lynn Searles, Braden Middle School sixth-grader Mireya Miller, Kingsville
Elementary first-grader Annabelle Whittington and Ridgeview Elementary School first-grader Paisley Hamilton.
"We are certainly very proud of all of our students of the month," said Board President Shannon Pike.
In other news:
—Treasurer Kassandra Brand swore in the newly elected Board Member Roman Vencill.
—The board approved agreements with Kent State University, Lakeland
Community College
and Stark State College to offer college level courses at the district for next school year.
—The board
approved amendment
to the 2023-2024
school calendar to move the last day for students from June 3, 2024 to May 31, 2024 in order to accommodate state-mandated professional development for teachers.
—Starting on August 1, for the fall sports season will be athletic manager Dennis Mitchell,
head cross county
